Hillary was strong throughout her part of the town hall.
She emphasized again Sanders’s criticism of President Obama and Sanders’s attempts to get Obama primaried in 2012.
She spoke about making immigration reform as a priority and reminded voters that she voted FOR comprehensive immigration reform in 2007, where Sanders voted against it. She committed to brining immigration reform to a vote, if elected, within the first 100 days of her presidency.
She reminded voters that she was the first person to reprimand Donald Trump and said “Basta!” with anti-immigration rhetoric. She thanked Pope Francis for reminding us that we need to be humane.
Speaking fees came up again. She reminded voters that she was the candidate that warned about Wall Street effects on the economy, with respect to mortgages and loans. She said she would release the transcripts when everyone else in the race does that, including Sanders.
She spoke eloquently about supporting LGBT rights.
She answered questions about housing, and social security. Speaking on Social Security, she spoke against Republican plans for privatizing it. And then about bringing more money into the Social Security Trust Fund. She spoke about the too many SS recipients who are not getting enough, including low-income workers and older women. She spoke about what happens when a husband dies and a widow loses half of her SS payment. She was adamant that she would not raise the retirement age.
Clinton fielded a question from a young woman who spoke about the hardship of growing up under the great recession and about the difficulty of paying tuition. Clinton spoke about getting back to good job creation, about the fact that women should get equal pay for equal work, and about getting student debt down. And then Clinton said, I know how to get it done, and that is why I am asking for your vote.
She said she is absolutely focused on “delivering results for people.” This in response to a question about trust. She spoke about how when people saw her in action in New York, she got re-elected with an even bigger percentage of the vote.
Somebody asked her about her ties to Wall Street and Walmart. Boy, did she nail that question, she said that “that is why unions have endorsed me” ... because she was there for them, and not just at election time… Yes they have endorsed her!!!
These are my thoughts and observations. I am with her more than ever. I am with her. She will make a great president!
