"Why I, a male, millennial, and person of color, am voting for Hillary Clinton"

Really nice article today from Medium.com from a millennial laying out very excellent reasons to be with Hillary.

Over the course of the election season, the media has painted Hillary Clinton as a candidate who is out of touch with today’s millennials. In almost every debate or interview she gets asked a version of the question, “Why do you fail to connect with young voters?” These questions frustrate me because, while Bernie Sanders does have a passionate group of young supporters, Clinton also has a loyal group of young voters who would like to see her become president. I am writing this to offer my perspective of why I, a male, millennial, and person of color, am voting for Hillary Clinton.

First, Clinton’s resume is second to none. Before becoming First Lady and marrying President Bill Clinton, Clinton was an attorney at the Children’s Defense Fund and taught law at the University of Arkansas. As First Lady, Clinton led the charge to provide universal health care for all Americans. Although it failed, Clinton’s ideas and efforts laid much of the groundwork for today’s Affordable Care Act. As Senator of New York, she helped secure over $21 billion in funding for the redevelopment of the World Trade Centers and helped push equal pay legislation through the Paycheck Fairness Act and originally co-sponsoring the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. Furthermore, as Secretary of State, Clinton negotiated a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel and oversaw freed trade agreements with US allies such as South Korea. I could go on and on.

He is also dead on. Hillary has a long history of standing up for women, children, and fairness. Also contrary to the constant unjust claims of warmonger, it is forgotten what an advocate for peace she has been around the world. She presided over the diplomatic relations of over 112 countries while secretary of state.

Here are some more reminders about why she is an amazing candidate who deserves the nomination:

Secured a policy change that would “take into account” a country’s LGBT human rights record when distributing foreign aid. She worked with Ted Kennedy to expand the Children's Health Insurance Program. Directed the State Department to “champion a comprehensive human rights agenda” that included protection of LGBT human rights. Made the promotion of equality for gay people a core value of U.S. foreign policy. Launched the Global Equality Fund to support LGBT human rights advocates in partnership with eight countries. Fought Ugandan efforts to criminalize homosexuality, punishable by death Hillary Clinton played a vital role in the passage of the Turkish-Armenian Accord. Launched the African Women’s Entrepreneurship Program to help women “get their own businesses in order, to learn how to better achieve what they’re hoping for. Launched the U.S.-Africa Clean Energy Finance Initiative to drive private sector investment into Africa’s energy sector. As one of her first acts in office as Secretary of State, created equal benefits to domestic partners working for the State Department. Launched the Climate and Clean Air Coalition, which has 37 countries working to reduce methane emissions. Senator Clinton was an original co-sponsor of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.Co-Sponsored the PAYCHECK FAIRNESS ACT Initiated the creation of the Adoption and Safe Families Act, protecting abused children and encouraging the adoption of children with special needs. Investigated health issues affecting veterans of the Gulf War, now commonly known as Gulf War Syndrome. As secretary of state, she negotiated Iran sanctions, and she brokered an agreement between Hamas and Israel that brought about a ceasefire and helped bring security to Israel Created the Office on Violence Against Women in the Justice Department.

As U.S. first lady, she worked with Congress and succeeded in passing a historic childhood health insurance program;

She served on Senatorial committees, including Budget; Armed Services; Environment and Public Works; Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, and a special Committee on Aging.

Just like Clinton demonstrated in Flint, when talking about the “-isms” like racism or sexism, Americans need more than just a speech. When I heard Clinton speak in Ohio, I could tell she truly cares about the future of America and she listens to our problems. The problems America faces are complex, systemic, and will require some time to solve. Hence, we need a candidate who knows the insides and outs of multiple issues. We need a candidate who has the grit, the experience, and the vision to actively enact change. We need Hillary Clinton.

Well said Suniel.  The “grit, experience, and vision to actively enact change”.
