Tricia Wyse, the Pootie Queen of Daily Kos, crossed the Rainbow Bridge this morning at 7:30 EST. Even a heart as large as hers could not stand up to the physical stresses her body was under.
It’s hard to even start on how and why she was so important. She created a community fun space for those who have, or just love, animals. She created a safe space where no matter how much pie (or poo) was being flung in the outer blogosphere all parties could come and look at cute animal pictures with funny captions together. She created a space where people could bring their joy in their pets, their questions about pets, and their sorrow at the loss of their pets. She created a safe space where we could come when the stresses of our personal lives became overwhelming. She loved our community, kept track of us, let everyone know when one of us needed help or sympathy — and put it on the top of every diary that she would defend the Peeps under any circumstances.
She left us a community and a job to do. We must continue what she built. That safe space, that caring space, is too important as she was well aware. Diarists have come and gone. When they left she’d add another day to her own list and keep things going. She knew we depended on the safe caring space and she dependably made sure it was there . I don’t know how, but I will learn and join the diarists who have been posting in her absence both in memory of and for the love of her.
Our Pootie Queen has left us to join the many Kossack two- and four-foots over the Rainbow Bridge. Long may she reign there.
