Why am I posting a Mark Ruffalo tweet as an answer? Simple, WTF happened with the polls has to do with Social Media, enthusiasm, mutual respect between Bernie and his supporters and authenticity.  I will explain this further in a second

Yesterday I posted this Diary about Black Men For Bernie which came about because I saw a tweet that Mark Ruffalo made linking to a cell phone vid he took with these guys and their van. The van had been painted with a pic of Bernie’s 1960s arrest and the men were incredibly enthusiastic about their mission to educate Black voters in MI about Bernie’s history, his goals and his beliefs. Mark was sweet enough to shoot a vid with them and put it out there.

The diary immediately got hit with people dismissing these men and their goals, asking if this was a Bernie campaign ploy, pointing out how silly it was so who cares and that Hillary had it all wrapped up.

Well, look where we are now.

Black Men for Bernie’s twitter account had less than 500 followers yesterday, now it’s over 1000. Hmm, pointless? Meaningless? I don’t think so.

People have mocked, condescended and bashed the power of social media constantly in this election, calling Reddit a cesspool (which is can be, just like everywhere else on the net, but that doesn’t mean it’s not useful), mocking internet polls, pointing out that Bernie may win the internet but those darn kids never vote so who cares. Twitter means nothing, so what.

Well guess what, in case you haven’t noticed the Main Stream Media has been co-opted, corrupted and biased for the last few decades and it’s gotten progressively worse. More and more people are turning to alternate forms of news, like, you DailyKos, to get information.

So when I saw the original tweet by Ruffalo, I knew several things, one, the tweet would get traction, two, if there were two guys out there doing this, there was bound to be a lot more and three, Bernie would love these guys.

Well guess what? A little over 24 hours later, Bernie took the time out of his ridiculous schedule and met these two men, before the election was even done. So these two men, who were lucky enough to meet Mark Ruffalo got reached out to by the Sanders campaign and met Sanders, all because of Twitter.

You know how much that means to people? That is why Bernie is winning in states the polls said he’d get trounced in, because he has always known how to reach out to people, from doing his weekly radio show, to live tweeting the Republican debates. He doesn’t see himself as above us or better than or beholden to anyone other than the people that are paying his paycheck, us.

While Hillary has been flying around the globe, literally, racking up millions of dollars from the same people who have helped ruin this country, Bernie has been meeting the people who’s lives have been ruined and listening to them and now, those meetings can be sent around the globe, thanks to Twitter and FB. People can see how he is in unscripted moments, just like they can see Hillary in unscripted moments, and compare them.

The polls were also off because they are a victim of technology, much has been made of cell phones and polls. Here’s the thing, honest question, how many of you reading this, right now, answer cell phone calls from unknown numbers? I never do, neither do most people I know. So whether or not polls call them, they are still missing a huge number of people. The age dynamic is changing and the polls are constantly under-representing people under 40, who are a huge population bloc now.

Let’s talk political identification, another thing people have been pooh-poohing. “Indies don't matter, this is a Dem Primary!” I’ve seen that everywhere too. Yeah, not so much. People under 40 and a lot even over that are sick of both parties, we don’t trust either of them. The Dems have sold us out repeatedly on a myriad of things and the Reps are batshit nuts and dangerous, so we don’t pick a side, because neither side really gives a flying fuck about us. Bernie’s choice to always stay an indie resonates with us. He gets it, we get it, our choice should be based on the person and what they stand for, not the party. This is not some country where loyalty oats are required and no political party is owed their letter next to my name unless they earned it, neither have, so I choose to vote for based on what they believe in and are willing to do, nothing else.

Bernie has integrity, consistency and the courage to speak the GOD DAMN TRUTH, which no one ever has in my lifetime. That’s why the polls were off, because people refuse to let someone who’s saying everything we’ve known for years fail and we are not going to use the same old system to get our message out, because that system has been co-opted.

Our major media is owned by six companies and yes, they have an agenda. We all know that, so we ignore them and go our own way.

It’s not complicated, Bernie won Michigan because the system is rotten and it’s time for the people to shake it up.
