West coasters are putting their money where their heart is.
The Seattle Times heartily endorsed Senator Sanders for President surprising everyone except the people who actually live there. Gene Balk’s FYI Guy Seattle Times’ article shows just how much Seattle is on fire for Bernie.
Seattle ranks No. 1 among the 50 biggest U.S. cities for per-capita contributions to Bernie Sanders, according to my analysis of the most recent data from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and the U.S. Census Bureau.
Itemized donations from Seattleites to Sanders totaled $596,578 through Jan. 31. That pencils out to a rate of $893 per 1,000 city residents, handily beating out No. 2 San Francisco and No. 3 Portland.
The West Coast loves Bernie Sanders as evidenced by the world class crowds which turned out to see him this past August. This is why those of us to who live here believe strongly that the primary is not over until all of us have had a chance to vote because we are scales-tipping in love with our candidate.
Bernie Sanders at the Portland Rally on August 9, 2015. This is the energy that awaits Bernie here.Thomas Paine still speaks to the American people and we are still listening to his voice.
"When it shall be said in any country in the world, my poor are happy; neither ignorance nor distress is to be found among them; my jails are empty of prisoners, my streets of beggars; the aged are not in want, the taxes are not oppressive; the rational world is my friend, because I am the friend of its happiness: when these things can be said, then may that country boast its constitution and its government."
— Thomas Paine (H/T Ranting Rooster!)
We have it within our power to make the world over again.
~ Common Sense 1776
More than any election before, the choice we make will determine whether we truly make the world over again or simply allow the events of climate change and grassroots fascism to overtake us.
Be engaged. Be listening. Be brave.
