There’sa rec list diary right now that is discussing the serious shit we as a species have done to our home world regarding the rapid temperature increases over the last several years. As the diarist noted, it is a diary about anthropogenic climate change. The diarist makes no mention of any candidate in the effing Democratic (or Republican) primaries. And yet …
And yet … you goddam assholes are turning the comment thread there into another stupid Rox/Sux insult infested debate with lots of overheated pies being thrown at one another. It’s absurd. It’s stupid, it’s counterproductive. It serves no purpose and It is turning people off. Go play in one of the pigsties that are on the rec list if you must to get your jollies, but leave the damn mudslinging and candidate bashing for those other diaries, not the ones that are addressing the single most important issue regarding the future of this planet, and one that I care about deeply. It’s my kids (and any grandkids), and all the young people today, who will be stuck living with this ever worsening catastrophe that we have so willfully and ignorantly engineered for them. The least you could do is treat that issue with a modicum of decency and take it seriously.
In short, grow the fuck up.
Update: I did not expect this to get to the top of the rec list. Here’s my recommendation for those of you willing to listen to me. Go to Lunkhead’s diary, rec and tip it, and then leave a substantive comment about what policies and solutions you would like us to see promoted without mentioning any candidate. Then come back here, if you must, and have at one another with all the sound and fury you can muster. As for me, I’m out of here. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
