I pointed this out in one of my posts about a month ago and people mocked it. But yes, young blacks and Latinos are definitely Feelin’ the Bern.
This story comes courtesy of Sam Sanders (no relation) from NPR. He interviewed Randy Brown of Edison Research, and the findings are amazing...
Edison conducts entrance and exit polling for American elections and has conducted polls on primary voters and caucusgoers in 20 states so far this election.
Brown said, by some measures, Sanders actually leads among black and Latino voters.
"Among African-Americans, who are 17 through 29, Bernie Sanders is actually leading that group, 51 to 48 [percent]," he said. "Among 17- to 29-year-old Hispanics, Bernie Sanders leads Hillary Clinton 66-34."
"I think the big takeaway," Brown said, "is that whether it's among whites or African-Americans, Bernie Sanders does significantly better among the youngest voters in the Democratic primary."
The story came about because, of course, after Bernie won Hawaii and Alaska, two of the most diverse states in the country, they suddenly became “largely white” according to CNN and other corporate media folks. Hawaii is THE most diverse state and has by far the largest Asian population in the country, and Sanders won in a landslide, with record turnout.
Sanders still has to make inroads with older black voters, who are MUCH more likely to vote in a Democratic primary than their kids/grandkids. Nevertheless, Kos’ talking point about “lily-white” Sanders supporters, or whatever the fuck, is officially D-E-A-D.
Hillary won the white vote in Massachusetts, Texas, and Ohio. Bernie won the Latino vote in NV, CO and IL. There IS no discernible race gap. There is an age gap.
