What MTP didn't release last night about the Clooney interview. Raised funds going down ballot.

Last night MTP released a teaser for Chuck Todd's interview with George Clooney.

Here’s the teaser:

I think it’s an obscene amount of money. We had some protesters last night when we pulled up in San Francisco and they’re right to protest, they’re absolutely right, it is an obscene amount of money.

“The Sanders campaign when they talk about it is absolutely right. It’s ridiculous that we should have this kind of money in politics. I agree, completely.”

If you read that teaser or saw the small clip of the quote, you would think Clooney is somehow dissing his preferred candidate, Hillary Clinton.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

@chucktodd and @meetthepress did an awful and misleading job on Clooney’s fundraiser remarks with their snippets and marketing.

Shortly after Todd asked Clooney the question about money in politics, he went on to say that the bulk of the money they were raising was not going to Clinton. It was going to elect a Democratic Senate and Congress.

This is what Hillary has been doing this entire campaign season, raising money for down ballot Democratic races. And as Clooney went on to explain, this is how you change a broken campaign finance system. You elect Democrats and a Democratic President that nominate Supreme Court Justices that will overturn Citzen’s United.

It’s easy to blame others for the broken campaign finance system, but how do you fix it? It isn't going to magically fix itself with a stump speech or just blaming other Democrats. You have to elect Democrats. You have to raise money for down ballot races. Hint. Hint.

I can't embed the video of the Clooney interview and the transcript appears not to be available at this time. If you can watch the video, I would highly recommend it.
