On February 20th, the Democratic Party of the State of Nevada held it’s precinct Caucuses. The final tally at that 1st tier of their state caucus process left Hillary Clinton with more Delegates.

On April 2nd, the Democratic Party of the State of Nevada held it’s County Convention. The final tally at that 2nd tier of their state caucus process left Bernie Sanders with more Delegates. Why?

 From the LasVegasSun.com —

Nearly 9,000 delegates were elected on caucus day in late February, but only 3,825 showed up to Saturday’s convention. An additional 915 elected alternates and 604 unelected alternates also turned out to support their favored candidate.

The final delegate count was 2,964 for Sanders and 2,386 for Clinton. That means the Sanders campaign will send 1,613 delegates to the state convention, while the Clinton campaign will send 1,298.

So while a number of stories running here on Saturday spoke about ‘bad behavior by Sanders supporters’, none of them spoke about what the actual problem which incited all of that behavior was. Sanders supporters expected to head into the State Convention with a large majority of the Elected Delegates (which would give them an edge to get more of the remaining state delegates to be awarded, the 12 at large Delegates). These may seem like small numbers of delegates to get so upset over, but since the state only has 43 delegates and three alternates to award to send to the nominating convention in July, that 12 is over 25% of their total Delegation.

I’d be concerned about it, too, if I were a Nevadan.
