Young People Support Hillary. I'm 13 And I'm Living Proof.

I’m the youngest supporter in my local volunteer team for Hillary Clinton. I canvass every week. I make phone calls. Before my state’s primaries on June 7, I will be making phone calls all day. Nobody pressured me into doing this. I do it on my own, and I do it for a reason. I do it for a very good reason. I do it because I believe in fighting for our next President, because she is our only hope against Trump, and no, she is not The Lesser Of Two Evils, but the most experienced, qualified, candidate in the race.

I read about politics every day. I read about Bernie Sanders’ support from a large demographic of young people. I observe. I understand. Everywhere I go I see signs of support for Sanders. People around me try to sway me from supporting Hillary. I refuse.

I’ve done my research, I’ve read books, I’ve read hundreds of different opinions. Hundreds of different facts.

I can comprehend the movement. I was almost part of it. Almost.

Last fall, in the morning I wrote with ballpoint pen Hillary 2016 on one hand and Bernie 2016 on the other. I actually thought about volunteering for Sanders. I was undecided.

As a true fanatic when it comes to politics I had no choice but to lay awake, deciding between the two candidates.

At long last I went with my heart. I went with Hillary. And the further into the campaign things went, the more I realized I had made the right decision.

Where I live it would have been very cool, and very trendy for me to walk around in a Bernie t-shirt. Instead, when campaigning I’ll walk around in a Hillary t-shirt and get people actually laughing at me or giving me contorted looks.

If it were the Bernie stand I was campaigning at, the community would absolutely love me. They’d ask me about my politics and why I was campaigning, and maybe even smile at me.

And I’m saying this truthfully because I live in an area where there is so much enthusiastic Bernie support, that once I was standing next to a parking lot, bored, and counting Bernie bumper stickers. I had gotten to about two in last 30 seconds when I saw a whole entire Bernie car. It was a giant SUV, with a huge Bernie painted on it.

I am writing this because I want to let you know that Hillary Clinton’s presidency is important to lives of young people too. Yes, perhaps my local team of volunteers are mostly made up of 55-75  year olds, but I’ve moved at least a couple people to voting for Hillary Clinton because they think if I’m so involved in the movement and passionate about what I do, then perhaps they should consider supporting her too.

I am the movement. I am potentially an influential part of the future. And I support Hillary Clinton so that I can do what is important for the world in the future.

I wanted to move forward.

So I chose Hillary.
