While Kos attacks Bernie and people insult each other on his blog, others are working together for unity in the Democratic Party:

The two Democratic candidates have agreed with Democratic Party officials to a new apportionment of the 15-member committee that writes the platform, according to Democratic officials familiar with the compromise worked out this month.

Chairman Rep. Elijah Cummings was named by Wasserman Schultz.

Sanders’s choices include James Zogby, a pro-Palestinian activist who is president of the Arab-American Institute in Washington and a frequent commentator on Arab-Israeli issues.

Sanders also picked Cornel West, a liberal author and racial justice activist who has been a Sanders surrogate. Sanders also named Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota, among his most prominent elected backers, author and environmental activist Bill McKibben and Native American activist Deborah Parker

The Clinton campaign’s choices are Wendy Sherman, a former top State Department official and Clinton surrogate; Neera Tanden, president of the Center for American Progress and longtime Clinton confidante; Rep. Luis Guttierez of Illinois; Carol Browner, a former former director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy; Ohio State Rep. Alicia Reece and Paul Booth of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union.

Wasserman Schultz also named former California Rep. Howard Berman; California Rep. Barbara Lee and author and executive Bonnie Schaefer.

WaPo: Sanders picks pro-Palestinian activist for Democratic platform committee

In addition, Sanders’s policy director, Warren Gunnels, will be involved:

Sanders’s policy director, Warren Gunnels, will have a major hand in trying to influence the outcome of the platform, a source familiar with ongoing talks tells me. Gunnels may not end up being a voting member of the platform drafting committee, but he will play a staff role at a minimum.

Gunnels and the Sanders campaign are already at work producing a draft of the bullet points it hopes to get into the party platform, the source continues. Some things the Sanders camp will push for include firm opposition to a vote on the Trans-Pacific Partnership in this Congress; requirements to break up too-big-to-fail financial institutions; more in infrastructure spending; a $15-per-hour minimum wage; tuition-free public college, and, possibly, a carbon tax, in keeping with the ambitious agenda Sanders has campaigned on.

Plum Line: The Democratic establishment takes new steps to soothe the Bern

Yes, Bernie and Hillary people will unify the party. There may be bumps and bruises, but it will be unified.

Don’t get all your news from this place. The real world is quite different from insulting people on the internet for disagreeing with you.
