Ever since DonaldTrump clinched the GOPpresidentialnomination, a number of Republicanoffice-holders and seekers have been shocked—shocked—to find that racism is going on in here!
Perhaps they "misconstrued" what that whole birther thing was all about, or maybe they just couldn't hear the dog-whistle that Trump was blowing.
Whatever the case may be, these Republicans now face a rather difficult choice.
Some, like House Speaker PaulRyan, have opted to go into hiding, while others, like Sen. MarcoRubio, have stood by their endorsements—their concerns about Trump'stemperament notwithstanding.
There are also those who've made the absurdclaim that—as a first-time candidate prone to speaking without thinking—Trump'sracism ought to be excused; and yet others who've encouraged him to remain offensive.
However, some Republican insiders, like Sen. Mitch McConnell, are now calling on Trump to dial the racismdown a few notches—and a couple have even rescinded their endorsements, like stereotypical Indian givers.
Speaking of which, have you heard Trump's latest knee-slapper about Elizabeth "Pocahontas" Warren?
