This is going to be short. It doesn’t require a lengthy exposition. It’s not an argument. It isn’t even meant to invite response.
President Obama… I’m sorry. You are the real thing. You probably knew, when you accepted this job, what lay ahead. I’m pretty sure you feel lucky still to be alive.
I want you to know that we… and I mean the VAST majority of my white, and even privileged, friends... get you. We get what you’ve meant, and done, for this country.
Not a thing the haters can say will change your extraordinary, and unique, legacy. You will be in the history books for far more than the color of your skin.
I will miss you. Especially given the choices that face us in this election season. I will miss you, and I will remember. Just like every American who has an empathetic heart and the ability to think critically will.
Job well done. I was blessed to have seen it happen. Thank you.
