'You say you want a Revolution ...'

Pursuing a "Political Revolution" is a key plank of the Bernie Sanders Campaign. Indeed when Bernie launched his Campaign, Revolution was Topic-one:

Bernie Sanders found fresh cheers for decades-old claims Tuesday on the shores of Lake Champlain as he launched his presidential campaign — part of what he called a "political revolution to transform our country economically, politically, socially and environmentally."

"Brothers and sisters, now is not the time for thinking small," Vermont's independent U.S. senator told a Waterfront Park crowd. "Now is not the time for the same-old-same-old. Now is the time for millions of working families to revitalize American democracy."

Senator Sanders calling for a "Political Revolution" is far more than a Dream -- it's the real means to fix what's broken in America. Because Sanders truly believes, that real means is Us.

I am not running to fulfill some long-held ambition. I am running for one simple reason: This country today is facing extraordinary crises in terms of climate change, income and wealth inequality; in terms of a political system which is now corrupt and is leading us toward oligarchy; in terms of the collapse of the American middle class; in terms of more people in jail than any other country on Earth; and in terms of an immigration policy which is clearly completely broken. I just do not believe that establishment politics are going to address these issues. [...]

I do not say, "Elect Bernie Sanders for president, I'm going to solve all of these problems." We need millions of people to stand up and fight back, to demand that government represents all of us, not just the one percent. I'm trying to create a movement. That is what my campaign is about — that is not what Hillary Clinton's establishment campaign is about. [...]

So you see, calling for a "Political Revolution" is a bit more than rhetoric for Bernie -- it's the "practical means" to take back the power, and re-invest it in our people.

[ Bernie Sanders: ]  “What this campaign is about is not just electing a president, it is transforming America,” the candidate told the crowd of young people, labor and community activists that assembled to march him into the hall where the dinner was to be held. “To do that we need millions of people — people who have given up on the political process, people who are demoralized, people who don’t believe that government listens to them. We need to bring those people together to stand up loudly and clearly and to say ‘Enough is enough.’ This country belongs to all of us, not just wealthy campaign donors.” [...]

“I pledge to you that every day I will fight for the public interest not the corporate interests,” Sanders told the Jefferson-Jackson dinner crowd, as his young supporters answered with thunderous applause. “I will not abandon any segment of American society — whether you’re gay or black or Latino, poor or working class — just because it is politically expedient at a given time.”

The proposition Sanders offered was clear enough: While others might make promises, he can be counted on to stand firm for economic and social justice, for peace and the planet.
