It was a Wednesday evening.  The headquarters just S of Alexandria for the Virginia primary was officially opening, and Tim Kaine was the principal speaker.  It was also Ash Wednesday, and Tim is a serious Catholic as you can see by his forehead.

I was there relatively early, and when he saw me, he came over and gave me a hug and we began to chat.

The woman you see in the picture taught in the room next to mine at Hayfield Secondary School, about a mile a way.  She worked part-time at a yoga studio in the same strip mall, had seen the signs, and had come in.  I introduced her to the Senator, and she immediately asked if we could get a picture, then insisted I also be in it.

Before and after he spoke, Tim Kaine was mobbed by the people there, who wanted to talk, who wanted to get their pictures with him.  He was gracious, warm and almost infinitely patient.

Mrs. Babic, since that is how she describes herself on Twitter, couldn’t stop talking about having met Tim Kaine.

Tim Kaine is that kind of person.

He is a great public servant.

He will be a great Vice President.
