Tonight they booed Bernie. I've seen this in the sixties! My first diary.

Tonight they booed Bernie.  They booed a good man who spent his life fighting for more than those who booed probably will ever do.  Then they booed Elizabeth and then Nancy.

I’ve seen this before.  I saw it up close during the sixties.  Those who worked for the right things were never enough.  Someone who offered eighty percent became a sellout.  Nothing satisfied except for getting one hundred percent, and each person’s one hundred percent was different from someone else’s.  Back then the result was Richard Nixon and then Ronald Reagan and the start of dismantling unions and worker’s rights.  More personally, it led to my building at my University being bombed and to the death of a friend in the bombing.

I’ve heard people saying that they’d rather have four years of Trump rather than Clinton.  I heard that sentiment too back then.  The thing is that Trump might last more than one term.  Conditions will be locked in place that can do damage for decades.  And the Supreme Court and all that the Supreme Court decides, including the interpretation of the Constitution, will be lost for at least a generation and for many of us the rest of our lives.  There have [been] analyses that the rise of Hitler was aided by the extreme anti-fascists.  The extreme anti-fascists decided that their enemies were the less extreme anti-fascists.  They essentially fought others who were against Hitler because the others were not extreme enough.

Please, people.  The stakes are too high.  We can do better.  We can be more mindful.  Stop and do the math.  Some good is better than a lot of bad.
