It had to happen. The day finally had to come where endless reams of B.S. and F.U.D. shoveled by the Trump campaign onto the American electorate finally had to start to backfire. Very soon the question won’t be will Donald Trump’s presidential campaign defeat Hillary Clinton, it will be how much permanent damage to the Republican political brand will this do and will they ever be able to but that stain completely out?

Invited Russian hackers to “find Hillary’s missing 30,000 emails.” Sarcastically. Allegedly. Claimed he has no investments in Russia, neglecting to mention they have investments in him. Said he’s never met Putin, even though he previously claimed he did. Refused to endorse House Speaker Paul Ryan against his primary opponent sarcastically saying “He’s just not there yet.” Then endorsed him three days later. Mansplained that women should just quit their jobs and careers to avoid sexual harassment. Refused to endorse John McCain and also attacked his commitment to Veterans in order to defend his attacks on the family of Bronze Star recipient Captain Humahyan Khan. Claimed Gold Star Father Khazir Khan only criticized him because he sympathizes with and supports “radical islamic terrorists.” Pocketed a Veteran’s Purple Heart saying he “always wanted one” and “this was much easier” than earning it the way that his 5 deferments kept him from otherwise. Picked a fight with Senator Kelly Aiotte (R-NH), again in order to defend his attacks on the Khan Family. Picked a fight with a crying baby, and lost. Falled to comprehend the answer after repeatedly asking his National Security advisors, “Why Can’t I Use Nukes? What do we have them for if I can’t use, them?” Still hasn’t released his tax returns.But that’s not the worst of it. The worst is that sinking swamp of rhetorical quicksand this is creating for his ever shrinking band of sycophants, surrogates and supporters to stand on. It’s become about not just what ridiculous defensive clap-trap Trump has said and believes, it’s now the ridiculous clap-trap they have to say in order to defend and deflect from what Trump has just said and believes.
Increasingly what depths they have to go to to pull off this hat-trick continue to sink far below the horizon of decency.
