Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Khalid Jabara was murdered on the front porch of his family’s home this past Friday. The man who shot him was his next-door neighbor, 61-year-old Vernon Majors. The Jabara family had been dealing with terrorist Vernon Majors since 2013 when Khalid’s mother Haifa Jabara filed a protective order against him. Majors had called the Lebanese family “dirty Arabs” and “filthy Lebanese,” amongst other equally hateful and idiotic things.

Vernon Majors is a piece of shit

She said he sexually harassed her, knocked on her windows late at night, stalked her and subjected the family to repeated racist remarks.

Her son Khalid had a protective order issued in early 2015.

He said Majors harassed him, stalked and followed him around, left notes on their door and vandalized the inside of their house.

This abhorrent activity culminated in Majors attempting to run over Haifa Jabara while she jogged in the neighborhood, last September, and being charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

Last year, his mother had been jogging through the family’s quiet Tulsa neighborhood when she was nearly killed in a vicious hit-and-run. Police quickly arrested Vernon Majors, who, according to a police report, confessed to the crime and even offered a motive, calling the Jabaras “filthy Lebanese.”

On May 25 of this year, however, Majors bonded out of jail.

Why was he out of jail, awaiting his trial that was set for this coming March?

In May, the district attorney’s office asked the judge to hold him without bond or at least raise his $30,000 bond to $300,000.

The judge set it to $60,000, and Majors bonded out immediately. He has been out for just over two months.

FOX23 reached out to Judge LaFortune and got this statement from his clerk: “He is not allowed to comment on a case, but he did double the bond to $60,000.00 pursuant to states motion.”

Needless to say, this was a living nightmare for the Jabara family which only got worse this past Friday when Khalid Jabara called the police. From the family’s statement on Facebook:

Only 30 minutes prior to my brother’s shooting, Khalid called the police stating this man had a gun and that he was scared for what might happen. The police came and told him there was nothing to be done. Minutes later, the suspect murdered our brother with four shots.

My family lived in fear of this man and his hatred for years. Yet in May, not even one year after he ran over our mother and despite our repeated protests, he was released from jail with no conditions on his bond—no ankle monitor, no drug/alcohol testing, nothing.

According to the Daily News who spoke with Tulsa police spokesman Jeanne Mackenzie:

Mackenzie said that officers could not find any suspicious activity before leaving Jabara's house at 6:40 p.m. but were called back at 6:48 p.m. after the gunshots.

She said that cops did not contact Majors during their original call, but would have done so if made aware of a possible protection order violation.

[...]

It is not yet known how he acquired his gun after his felony arrest last year and a previous felony conviction in California.

According to the police spokesman, they didn’t even realize that Khalid also had a protective order against the terrorist Majors. This tragedy could have been avoided in numerous ways—which makes it that much worse.
