10-year-old boy chased by Newark police, guns drawn, while playing in his front yard

Below is the heartbreaking video of a mother asking her 10-year-old son to recount what happened to him that has made him so upset. What happened was that on August 14, the fifth-grade Legend Preston was playing out front of his home when Newark police officers came upon him with guns drawn.    

The fifth grader was standing outside his home when cops chasing an armed robbery suspect broke off their pursuit and instead chased Legend into an alley behind his house, according to the family’s account.

Neighbors and friends formed a human shield around Legend to protect him from the police, according to Preston.

Who were they chasing and looking for? This guy—the 20-year-old guy with the dreadlocks.

Originally, it was reported that the police did not point their guns or chase down Legend, but clearly the family and possibly multiple witnesses are contradicting that account.

“This is a child!” they screamed.

“He matches the description,” the cops countered, according to Legend’s mother.

We do not know yet who the other witnesses are that can corroborate the account given by Preston’s family but we know one thing for sure—law enforcement has a very well-documented history of lying about their interactions with the public, and specifically with the black citizens of our country.
