From this story on Vox
The commission on presidential debates today announced the moderators for the 2016 presidential and vice presidential debates:
First presidential debate: NBC's Nightly News anchor Lester Holt on Monday, September 26. Vice presidential debate: CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano on Tuesday, October 4. Second presidential debate: ABC News’ Martha Raddatz and CNN’s Anderson Cooper in a town hall format on Sunday, October. 9. Third presidential debate: Fox News’ Chris Wallace on Wednesday, October 19.Some comments
- five networks, each gets one moderator, doubling up in the town hall
- two women (but obviously no Megyn Kelly)
- note demographics 1 straight white male (Wallace), one straight white woman (Raddatz), one Black man (Holt), one Hispanic woman (Quijano), one gay white man (Cooper) — i have no idea how much that played into it
Looking at the list, I do not know Quijano’s work, but know she is highly respected at CBS. The weakest of these in my mind is Raddatz, and the Town Hall format is the one that is hardest to predict.
I have no trouble with either Holt or Wallace, both of whom have demonstrated that they are very much straight arrows.
What do others think?
UPDATE: Apparently Donald is not too happy about one of the moderators:
xThe great Mike Wallace covered me in a much more professional manner than his son, Chris Wallace of @FoxNews. Mike was a total pro!
