Hello Daily Kos family —
A quick note to say hello to the community and let you know I’m back from medical leave and on the road to becoming a breast cancer survivor. Thank you for all the kind comments and messages this summer, it has been nice to hear from so many survivors and friends and family members of survivors on the site.
It has been just over two months since I announced I’d been diagnosed with breast cancer and encouraged everyone over 40-years-old (sooner if you have a family history) who read the post to get a mammogram and/or a colon cancer screening. One of the keys to a successful recovery in my case has been (relatively) early detection.
So, my question is — did you get a screening or a mammogram? If not, what are you waiting for? A shocking 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. Don’t delay, get a mammogram today!
Take the poll below and remember to schedule those screenings!
