The "Oz" episode, taped on Wednesday morning, will not air until Thursday.
But a campaign spokeswoman confirmed that Trump handed Dr. Oz a one-page summary of the physical exam he underwent last week.
The physical was conducted by Dr. Harold N. Bornstein, the same doctor who previously said Trump would be the healthiest president in history.
The campaign plans to share the information from Dr. Bornstein on Thursday.
You can’t make this up on the Onion. The same gastroenterologist who is probably not up to date on his internal medicine certification repeats his one-page act again.
I wish Trump the best of health, bearing in mind that he is ignoring his.
Addendum:
I looked up Harold Bornstein on ABIM’s website (which tracks who’s certified):
CURRENT CERTIFICATION STATUS: Gastroenterology: Certified Internal Medicine: CertifiedParticipating in Maintenance of Certification: No [my emphasis]
INITIAL CERTIFICATIONS: Internal Medicine: 1978 Gastroenterology: 1983 Important information regarding the physician verification tool: Most diplomates certified prior to 1990 are not required to participate in MOC but are strongly encouraged to do so. All ABIM certifications issued in 1990 (1987 for critical care medicine and 1988 for geriatric medicine) and thereafter must be maintained through ABIM's MOC program. ABIM's website serves as primary source verification. He was “grandfathered” since he was certified before 1990. I.e. he could have done no continuing education and still be “certified” in internal medicine.
Being a practising provider myself, it’s not an exaggeration that half of what we know about medicine is wrong. I would not be surprised if Dr. Bornstein has no clue what the up-to-date recommendations for the use of statins and BP meds are, much less preventative care like colonoscopies, vaccines and such.
