A couple of months ago, I published the following diary on Kos: “I Couldn’t Figure Out Why Evangelicals Were Supporting Trump — Until Now. Here’s Why They’re Wrong.” I wrote the piece after the Democratic National Convention, at which point I noticed that the only thing Evangelicals (in my social media circle, at least) seemed able to criticize was lyse Hogue’s speech on behalf of NARAL Pro-Choice America. And “criticize” is an understatement; they denounced her, and consequently the DNC, as pure evil.
Often, my readers email me about what I write … especially if the “add your comment” box seems too limiting … and I always try to respond. However, I tend to drag my feet when I can see the first few words of the message, and they are some version of “I am a born-again Christian.” Because I love it when expectations are shattered, I’m going to share (with the author’s permission) what is quite possibly the most encouraging and thoughtful comment I’ve ever received to a diary. Enjoy! And happy Sunday!
