I just read two of Hillary's emails and....

Wow.  These are the emails released in June from 2010.  I searched for emails from Clinton  and started to read.  I’ve read two so far (pretty minor research but enlightening.)  The first was a request from her for a printed copy of an economist article that talked about the complexity of battles within the UN Human Rights Council over freedom of religion and how these values can be warped to justify defamation of faith blaphemy laws in totalitarian countries.  It is a complex article, with good examples that raises a host of difficult questions. I learned a lot from reading it.

The second is a response to Blumenthal who had sent her a speech by Chas Freeman, former ambassador to Saudi Arabia.  The speech talked about the complexity of the Saudi move to greater transparancy, pointed out that there were more US educated PhDs in the Saudi cabinet than in our cabinet and congress put together, and talked about how King Abdullah is working to return his nation to the classical, more open roots of Islam through initiatives such as the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology.

I overuse the word “complex” in this post because it so embodies the things that Clinton apparently reads.  In these articles, there are no black and white answers just incredibly thoughtful presentation of some of the most troublesome things Clinton will deal with as President.  They represent a level of reflection and  discussion that she engaged in as Secretary of State that gives me hope that she is the best person to navigate our very complex world when we elect her.
