Pennsylvania’s GOP has asked a Federal court in Philadelphia to allow it to send poll watchers from rural Pennsylvania counties to intimidate voters.
Pennsylvania State Law allows a limited number of registered poll watchers at each precinct, but requires that they live in the county where they are registered to vote. This clearly frivolous lawsuit, filed on behalf of 8 registered Pennsylvania Conservative Republican voters, contends this common sense limit violates the 1st Amendment and denies voters their right to equal protection under the law. If this lawsuit is successful, people who live in rural counties like Potter County, etc. will be allowed to intimidate voters who live in Pennsylvania’s urban counties and areas like Wilkes-Barre, Scranton, Philadelphia, etc.
Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf (D) blasted the lawsuit. A spokesman for the Governor said: "It is shameful that the Pennsylvania Republican Party has joined Donald Trump in his dangerous claims of widespread voter fraud in Pennsylvania," said spokesman Jeff Sheridan. "To suggest that the election could be rigged as a result of fraud at the polls has no basis in fact, and attempts to delegitimize the election in Pennsylvania are disgraceful and dangerous. Additionally, there are minority party precinct officials in every precinct that the Republican Party can appoint. The Republican Party is only trying to cause chaos and disruption." www.mcall.com/...
