As people probably know by now, on Monday I report for pre-operative screening, and Tuesday morning at 5:30 AM I report to the hospital two blocks away for a procedure beginning around 7:15 or so to place a stent in my aorta to address an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The procedure is not considered high-risk, although there are always chances of death <1%, paralysis, or impotence.
I will stay in the hospital at least one night, maybe two.
I will not be allowed to drive for a period lasting 2-4 weeks.
Looking ahead means planning for what I will and will not be able to do beginning Tuesday morning.
Thus, I will mow my lawn on Monday afternoon, hopefully for the last time this season. I will possibly do some additional yardwork.
I am squeezing in one and maybe two tutoring sessions for a young man taking the SAT next Saturday.
I am making sure I have all the food and drink I will need in the house for at least a week and preferably more.
I have a pile of books I can read.
I am trying to stay calm.
