Election Night

We try to keep KTK as politics-free as possible, but this close to an election that could end democracy as we know it, I will venture there, if only peripherally. We have been invited to an election party in a large hotel in Santa Rosa. As members of the Democratic Club we would know many of the folks sure to be there. After lengthy discussion we decided to stay home.

It will go late at the hotel. There will be drinking, either in celebration or in despair. Would there be wi-fi for the DKos live blogging? Unknown. Refreshments might be good…..or not. What if there were a party of repubs in the next room? (Yes, there are some even in this bastion of progressiveness.)

So we will set up a card table in the living room and consume our own refreshments. Fresh apples go well with popcorn. Truffle pâté on crackers spread with cream cheez. Artichoke hearts. Smoked trout from New York (thank you, European Market.) Pacifico for a steady mood. And a bottle of Champagne for the moment of victory.

So how will you spend the evening? Do you have a comfortable venue you will attend? Are you staying home? If so, will you invite friends? Are there crucial local races? And if you are staying home (this is the important question), what will be your refreshments and libations?
