I am so tired of candidates of all stripes being asked about religion, all bar one trumpets their faith, Bernie Sanders, he argues more on what their religious teachings/principles are about; helping others. Funnily enough most of the others deliberately ignore the teachings of their faith when it suits.

I don’t think it is entirely the candidates fault [although some stand up and spout their extreme holiness without even being questioned] it is the medias.

By what right do you question someones religion? If you do, what is the correct answer? After all, surely there must be a “correct” answer if you are going to ask the question?

If someone wants to about their version of religion and just how extremely religious they are, let them. If they want to distort reality so much that they claim persecution for their faith let them.

Just stop asking them the damn question, if they feel so strongly about it they will preach it anyway. Heaven knows it will be in their web profile.

Who seriously cares what particular brand of Christianity [the most popular faith in the US] they follow, it is their actions and proposals that count. If they want to say that Jesus would have bailed out the moneylenders and given tax cuts to the rich, let them. If they want to say Jesus would have kicked and mocked the poor and infirm, let them. There is a perfectly good book that refutes these ideas, if only some of them would actually read it, rather than pontificating about how holy they are.

We do not live in a theocracy [yet] so asking someone about their religion for political office is irrelevant at best. The easiest way that this nonsense is ramped down is for the media to stop asking the bloody question in the first place, it is not relevant.

Sorry, but I don’t care what mythological being they worship, it is what they say and do that matters, more especially the ‘do’ than the ‘say’. If they want to tell me who would Jesus bomb and how he hates background checks let them, they don’t need any further encouragement to do so.

Yea, a man may say, You have faith, and I have works: show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. ~James 2:18
