Ethan Couch, the Texas teen who killed four people and seriously injured two more in a drunk driving accident, has been captured in Mexico:
The so-called "affluenza" teen Ethan Couch and his mother, who were being sought by Texas authorities, have been detained in the Pacific resort town town of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
How did authorities find him? Like most teens, he just couldn’t stay off his phone:
The U.S. Marshals Service tracked Couch down using electronic surveillance, including tracking a cell phone believed to be linked to him, an official briefed on the investigation told CNN.
He was picked up for violating his probation. In early December, a video surfaced of him "playing beer pong" and acting like the drunken life of the party. Authorities were investigating whether he’d been drinking, a clear violation of his probation, when he and his very wealthy mother disappeared. The prosecutors in his drunk driving case had sought a 20 year prison sentence and the judge ended up giving him 10 years probation. Given the widespread attention of his recent antics and disappearance, Ethan Couch is likely going to prison after all. And his mother may very well face charges of her own.
