Ike, our sweet cat died yesterday.
He was an abandoned cat that we took into our home back in summer 2013.
No one is sure how old he was. Our vet thinks he was 17 or 18 years old.
He had two bad teeth and was starving because he couldn’t eat the dry food that two of our kindly neighbors put out for him. Between our feeding and our vet’s efforts, we nursed him back to health.
Earlier this fall, he had major surgery. We nursed him back to health.
A few weeks ago, one of Ike’s front legs became lame. Our vet thought he injured some nerves in his leg. Turns out, that wasn’t the case. Ike had a brain tumor.
We lost him yesterday. He was the sweetest cat that I have ever known. He craved attention more than food. He would sit in my wife’s lap for hours. He always wanted to be in the same room with us. He would be my furry alarm clock in the morning, waking me up.
I miss him so much.
