I find it gratifying to see the awakening that is taking place before our eyes. An American Spring, finally. Actually, I think the awakening has been going on for some time, building, growing, spreading. What we are witnessing is the coming to fruition of the common will, something the 1% thought they were done with forever. I'm so glad to see them proven wrong. And I'm so glad we have such a staunch proponent of the people to lead us in these complicated times.
We have been pitted against each other: by race, by class, by left and right. We have forgotten how powerful we are when we stand together. The time has come for us all to stand against the 1% and their ruthless exploitation of the rest of us. It's time to take control of this country from the billionaire class and give it back to the people. It's time to restore democracy in America. It's time to share the wealth, educate our young, guarantee health care to all as a right, reexamine our priorities and get serious about the future. We're all in this together.
“I am who I am and I believe what I believe, and what my spirituality is all about is that we're all in this together.”
Bernie Sanders
This is a very moving video, in my humble opinion:
x YouTube VideoWe're all in this together. Who but the billionaires could disagree?
The time has come for us to stand up and change the worldThat we are proving wise enough to support this movement to make democracy work for ordinary Americans once again and to achieve the leadership and clarity that we need going forward, gives me hope. We will still be in big trouble with Bernie at the helm, given our ecological and other challenges, but with a fighting chance. It’ll still be a struggle to do the right thing but it’ll help to have Bernie on our side. He sees where we need to go.
I think it's the power of the 'net and social media that is making this possible (also mighty props to Occupy Wall Street for also making this possible), which is a vindication of all who believed that the personal computer/Internet revolution would democratize society. I think it has finally done just that. It's been a two-edged sword of course. We've lost our privacy. But who has the most to lose in an age where there are no secrets? The 1% or the 99? Trying to look on the bright side, though I mourn the loss of privacy and believe it should be a right. I grew up believing it was. Honest leadership may not only now be possible, it may be mandatory. I’m okay with that as an outcome, but not for the price.
But beyond that, personal computers and the net have made us all more powerful and made it possible to overcome the 1%'s iron grip on information, and as we know, information is power. The Internet has empowered us all and made it possible for us to overcome by networking, exchanging information and pulling together. It has not been for nothing.
The 1% wanted to own the net so they could exploit it economically. The Internet was a wild thing when they tried to co-opt it. I guess they did to a large degree by commercializing it but I maintain they made a mistake by tying the economy, including banking and trading, to the net, making it vital, assuring its continued existence and natural evolution. They let the genie out of the bottle hoping to contain and exploit its power. Not suspecting the subversive nature of its still wild heart. On the Internet, as perhaps also in life, freedom will out. Where there’s a cause there will be rebels. And the Internet makes them strong.
I think a confluence of many factors has ushered in an era of the ascendancy of the 99%. The American people matter now like they never mattered before. We have come into our own. And not just in America but around the Internet lovin’ world. Democracy is no longer vaporware. We made this with our own hands (and internet connections).
This is a very interesting moment on multiple layers, and everything is at stake.
The once ridiculed Bernie Sanders campaign has roared into an honest-to-god Internet-based political revolution. We are witnessing history. Things will never be the same. The question now is can we act boldly enough, can we rise up and back Bernie passionately enough, to get serious enough about all the right things?
Yes we can.
Just watch us.
Thanks to everyone for doing your part to change our nation and our world for the love of us all.
And remember, boys and girls, Our mission doesn't end by electing Bernie Sanders.
