Thank you Governor Martin O’Malley for calling out Hillary during the debate after she invoked the president’s name as her defense on the charge of Wall Street influence. Her tactic here seemed rather Otteresque …
“Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether I accepted some Wall Street donations for my campaign, or whether I became personally wealthy by taking millions in speaking fees from Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, and other financial institutions - I did.
But you can't single out one individual to hold responsible when there are so many politicians doing the same things. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole American political system? And if the whole system is guilty then isn't this an indictment of our country in general? I put it to you, Bernie, isn't this an indictment of the President of the United States himself? Well you can say whatever you want about me, but I'm not going to stand here and listen to you badmouth President Barack Obama!"
