I can’t contain myself much more. The articles I’m reading on liberal and progressive sites, pages and groups have me about to ignite. The attacks on Sanders and Clinton are getting so ugly, I often have to scroll up to make sure I didn’t accidentally sidestep into a right wing group.
I’ll say it upfront. I am still undecided. I am old enough to have watched Clinton fight for healthcare, women rights and liberal causes, while many Democrats talked a good game but basically did nothing. I’ve hailed Sanders and his great compassion for ‘the people’ and the disadvantaged for years, and have been writing about wanting to see him run for president since early 2013. I fucking love them both and will support whoever wins the nomination with everything I’ve got to help them win and to help America win.
It pains me to stand back and see the damage we are doing to our own party and possibly to our country with liberal infighting. And I’m also going to say this upfront — there is a mob mentality going on with some in the Sanders camp that is so cutting I would almost think they are conservative extremist plants and trolls. The similarities are uncanny. Bernie Sanders has addressed his own disgust with them, but this odious minority continues to spread lies and/or stretch the truth. The constant hacking of every good thing Clinton has done is despicable. And it’s so disheartening to see the other camp going after Sanders, as well.
Every piece of dirt that is pulled up or made up about either Sanders or Clinton is feeding Republicans. And it’s making them fat. They are keeping score and they will use what they hear, stretch it, and broadcast it in their ads when we are down to that one Democratic candidate who can save this country from falling into the hands of the 1% (who are just waiting and saving their real appetites for desert — the Supreme Court.)
Barbara Lee once said,
“Let us not become the evil we deplore.”
We can build our candidates up, without tearing the other down. Show the country and the world how much better we are than Republicans by showing and exemplifying our strength in winning — rather that our fear of losing.
