The tweet tells the tale. I have little more to add, other than I have always deeply respected John Lewis for the courageous life he has lived.
This time, however, he was wrong to do what he did.

I’m sure he did not know or meet Bernie in the Civil Rights movement, as Bernie was just a 20-something white kid, among thousands, marching for a cause. It isn’t fair to belittle that participation, as Bernie has never claimed more than he has done.
Another fact that makes John’s statement disappointing:
