Shaun King shows that John Lewis did not meet Bill Clinton during the Civil Rights movement.

The tweet tells the tale.  I have little more to add, other than I have always deeply respected John Lewis for the courageous life he has lived.  

This time, however, he was wrong to do what he did.

His statement on Bernie’s civil rights participation was unfair, and not logical.  I’m sure he did not know or meet Bernie in the Civil Rights movement, as Bernie was just a 20-something white kid, among thousands, marching for a cause.  It isn’t fair to belittle that participation, as Bernie has never claimed more than he has done.

Another fact that makes John’s statement disappointing:

I’m sure John thought he was only trying to help the Clintons, but he made a mistake today, and straightening out what he said would be the right thing to do.
