The OPOL Report – The Birdie Sanders edition

From the editorial staff:

Well we've finally decided on a candidate to endorse. We've been waiting to see who would prove to be more electable. Turns out it was Bernie.

I mean honestly, all we care about is getting someone, anyone really, with a D after their name in the oval office. Who gives a rat's ass if they change anything or not? It's our team, baby, and that's all that matters. We don't care if they start more wars, drop more bombs, drill more oil, frack more gas, pollute more oceans, steal more money, hang out with more Kissingers, kiss more Wall Street ass or pass more Patriot Acts. Winning is all that matters.

“Cocaine politics is a helluva drug sport.” ~ Rick James (paraphrased)

Yes, we couldn't care less about policy, but the polls tell us all we need to know. It's Bernie or Trump, your choice.

The OPOL Report officially endorses Birdie Sanders – since he's gonna win it anyway. x YouTube Video

And then there are all those people who think that policy does matter. We're not sure we get that, (what could they be thinking?) but maybe we should hear them out – you know, in case they're on to something.

Hillary Clinton Is Standing in The Way of Progress

This battle is going on right now. On the one side, we have Bernie Sanders and those who support his message that America can do much better than we are doing now. That we should not only be able to do at least as well as other industrialized nations of the world, but much better. In Sanders’ view, healthcare should be a right of all people and that our government should be able to provide that right to its people at least as well as other industrialized nations around the world are able to provide that right to their citizens.

Sanders doesn’t end there; he also thinks that there is no reason why America cannot provide public higher education, tuition-free, to those students who are capable and willing, just like many other industrialized nations do. He reasons that we already provide tuition free education from kindergarten through the twelfth grade and no one complains about having to pay for a public high school option for Donald Trump’s kids and grandkids who almost certainly have or would be attending private schools anyway.

Then there is his view that we need to end the for profit prison system in America and deal with the racial injustice that far too often leaves a trail of unarmed minorities dead or unjustly incarcerated and in the case of Sandra Bland, both.

People who love peace and hate war love Bernie.

The 1% are all in a tizzy. OMG! What if Bernie actually wins? Will it be game over for the gravy train? Will we have to get honest work?

A lot of people are throwing around the term 'privilege' as though they don't know what it means. HINT: It applies more to the 1% and their minions than it does to the 99%, so if you're supporting the 1% and accusing others of 'privilege' then check yourself. Look in the mirror. THIS is privilege:

So there’s your fucking privilege.

A lot of people are talking a lot of shit about Bernie. Some of them are having to eat their fucking words:

An Apology

NCRM published an inaccurate and unfair story today, and we apologize.

Sunday afternoon The New Civil Rights Movement published an article on Senator Bernie Sanders with a video showing him speaking to his wife, Dr. Jane Sanders, as the two were onstage. The article inaccurately described their interaction, and even incorrectly reported his words. The Senator appeared to say to Dr. Sanders, "Don't stand there," and we reported that as, "Don't stand next to me."

Worse, however, was the tone of the article. It described the Vermont Senator as a "cad," which we have no reason to believe is fair.

Even if we had gotten these important details correct, the question becomes, was this newsworthy? In an age where the media – sometimes us, included – breathlessly reports what seems like every comment that Donald Trump makes, and now, nearly every comment that Ted Cruz makes, one might say yes, but I do not.

This was not newsworthy, and that we suggested it was by publishing it did a disservice to our readers and to the Senator and his wife. For all this we apologize to our readers and to Senator and Mrs. Sanders. We were wrong. Our readers, and Senator and Dr. Sanders deserve better. Again, we apologize, to you all.

The article has been taken down.

Readers were, rightly, quick to challenge us, and we appreciate your words. Every comment on our website, on our Facebook page, and every email has or will be been read. It's impossible to respond to them all, so we offer this by way of a thank you, and we ask you to give us another chance with your trust.

We all make mistakes, David. Apology accepted.

As for the rest of you who lie, cheat and manipulate to get ahead...

A lot of people have been trying, very disingenuously, to divide us by race – and not just the usual suspects. To dishonestly resort to racial politics as a weapon is just so amazingly wrong. It diminishes a topic of great import to the detriment of the righteous cause of anti-racism. This constant disparagement of Bernie's supporters as being exclusively white is offensive to his supporters of all colors – especially in light of the fact that it is so totally wrong, so completely bogus, such pure bullshit.

#BernieMadeMeWhite: No, Bernie Sanders Isn't Just Winning With White People

Edison conducts entrance and exit polling for American elections and has conducted polls on primary voters and caucusgoers in 20 states so far this election.

Brown said, by some measures, Sanders actually leads among black and Latino voters.

"Among African-Americans, who are 17 through 29, Bernie Sanders is actually leading that group, 51 to 48 [percent]," he said. "Among 17- to 29-year-old Hispanics, Bernie Sanders leads Hillary Clinton 66-34."

"I think the big takeaway," Brown said, "is that whether it's among whites or African-Americans, Bernie Sanders does significantly better among the youngest voters in the Democratic primary."

EXIT POLLSTER: Bernie Winning Black Voters Under 30 by 3pts, Winning Latinos Under 30 by THIRTY TWO

Say what you will, it's plain for anyone to see that many people of color love Bernie as much as I do. It’s a grave disservice to those people to falsely claim otherwise. Those who try to divide us by race suck. Bernie is about bringing us together.

Even the birds are for Bernie.

Many of us have been waiting for decades for the American people to wake up and smell the music. It looks like we are finally going to achieve critical mass with an awakened electorate and put a real people’s candidate in the oval office. It’s time for social, economic and environmental justice for America and the world.
