Silence Like A Cancer Grows

Even if you disagree with this diary, or don’t even read it, you HAVE to listen to the version of Sound Of Silence below. It’s crushing….

BFSkinner had a diary asking for songs that mellowed us out or affected us after the OPOL time out, etc. This was my song. Of course, it was first Simon and Garfunkle’s, but this version by Disturbed better expresses how I feel about the anger directed at Bernie’s supporters here.  From just my little view, Bernie supporters are often the ones hurting in real life and feel that we are not heard or cared about.  I think Hillary supporters fail to see this, or if they do they fail to take it into account.

I’m sick of not quite getting by. And if we get the tiniest bit ahead, we are thankful that we can help our kids who are not getting by. I am angry that we make less now than we did 20 years ago. I am depressed when retirement comes, it will NOT arrive with relaxing vacations and free time, but with worry, worry, worry. I am sad that my kids don’t see a future for themselves.  I could have cried when my son didn’t want to go the doctor because he was worried about the high cost of the deductible.

I felt like Bernie really cared and saw so many people who felt like I did.  And yes, we get angry and don’t trust, but we thought we could at least speak out. But now we can only speak in the right tone with the right words.  It’s heartbreaking.

Silence like a cancer grows

Anyhow, here’s to you OPOL….

"The Sound Of Silence"

Hello darkness, my old friend, I've come to talk with you again, Because a vision softly creeping, Left its seeds while I was sleeping, And the vision that was planted in my brain Still remains Within the sound of silence. In restless dreams I walked alone Narrow streets of cobblestone, 'Neath the halo of a street lamp, I turned my collar to the cold and damp When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light That split the night And touched the sound of silence. And in the naked light I saw Ten thousand people, maybe more. People talking without speaking, People hearing without listening, People writing songs that voices never share And no one dared Disturb the sound of silence. "Fools," said I, "You do not know. Silence like a cancer grows. Hear my words that I might teach you. Take my arms that I might reach you." But my words like silent raindrops fell And echoed in the wells of silence And the people bowed and prayed To the neon god they made. And the sign flashed out its warning In the words that it was forming. And the sign said, "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls And tenement halls And whispered in the sounds of silence." x YouTube Video
