The puerto rican press reports that Bernie Sanders will be in Puerto Rico next week. He will participate in a round table discussion at the Universidad de Puerto Rico , at the main campus in Río Piedras on May 16th at 5pm.

The Sanders campaign is attracting unusual sympathizers, like the Pro sovereignty and Pro Independence voters who traditionally do not participate in US primaries, due mostly to Sanders binding referendum proposal on the political status of the island and also his anti-imperialist anti-colonialism stance on Latin America. The US primaries in Puerto Rico have a low turnout rate of around 15% compared to the average turnout rate of Puerto Rican elections which is around 78%, one of the highest in the world.

The US Democratic Party primary in Puerto Rico was schedule on the same day as the primaries of the Puerto Rican parties: the governing Partido Popular Democrático and the Partido Nuevo Progresista. The other two parties, Partido Independentista Puertorriqueño and the Partido del Pueblo Trabajador will not hold primaries.
On the US Democratic Primary, Bernie Sanders will be #3 in the ballot.
