Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, best known for maybe being entirely corrupt, was interviewed in front of the hospital where most of the injured were brought from this weekend’s massacre in Orlando. Anderson Cooper let Bondi warn people about scam artists pretending to be charity organizations and hotlines set up for spouses and loved ones of those in the hospital. Anderson changed gears pretty quickly and it was nice to watch someone go into talking out of both sides of their face.
I’ve spoken to many in the gay and lesbian community here and they feel like you’re being a hypocrite because you have fought for years, you’ve gone after gay people in court and said that gay people, simply trying to fight for marriage-equality were trying to do harm to people in Florida. ‘To induce public harm’ I believe was what you argued.
From there it goes backpedal backpedal, I was doing the voters bidding, I never said I didn’t like gay people. Anderson Cooper does not let up and it is worth watching.
Cooper: The hotline that you've been talking about on television which allows family members and spouses of the dead to get information, which is incredibly important, appreciate you talking about on the air, had there been no gay marriage, no same-sex marriage, you do realize that spouses, there would be no spouses, that boyfriends and girlfriends of the dead would not be able to get information and would not be able to visit in the hospital here. Isn't there a sick irony in that?
Bondi: Let me take it a step further. People aren't right now who are partners and aren't married officially aren't able to get information so we're trying to assist them in getting information. Because early on --
Cooper: Isn't there a sick irony you for years were fighting that very idea?
