The PBS NewsHour just interviewed Gen. Michael Hayden about the letter from 50 senior GOP national security officials which warns that Donald Trump "would be the most reckless president in American history." Hayden is a 41-year veteran, four-star Air Force general and former director of both the CIA and NSA. To answer their numerous charges, the Trump organization sent Kris Kobach, Secretary of State -- of Kansas.
As Secretary of State, of Kansas, Mr. Kobach has the weighty national security responsibilities of coordinating elections and voter registration; registering lobbyists, businesses and trade names; and regulating notaries and cemeteries. Especially significant from a national defense standpoint is the recruitment and cultivation of future military assets through the Secretary of State’s Annual Archery Tournament.
Previous foreign affairs experience includes two years as an assistant to John Ashcroft in the Bush Administration, after which he co-authored legislation to repeal the rights of foreigner rapists and murderers undocumented citizens in several states, including the notorious Arizona law SB 1070 requiring local law enforcement to stop and check immigration status of anyone who looks brown “suspicious”. Mr. Kobach also received national attention for his tireless work on denying housing and in-state tuition to undocumented immigrants, who would endanger local communities by being educated and having safe places to sleep. Although most of these attempts at legislation have been found in violation of the (clearly rigged) U.S. Constitution or existing federal law, Kobach’s national security services are an example of his dedication and sacrifices to the protection of small communities:
The recently elected mayor of Valley Park, Grant Young, was more guarded, noting that the town of 6,500 had paid some $270,000 in legal fees.
His time as Secretary of State of Kansas has not been unmarred by controversy however. Just last year State Senate Minority Leader, Demon Democrat Anthony Hensley called on Kobach to resign, calling him “the most racist politician in America today.”
