Fox News is a mouthpiece for right-wing charlatanism. The people you see on air are considerably more interested in making money for themselves and the person they see in the mirror every day than they are about providing any information. I would not be surprised if some of them stand in the voting booth and just write their own names in. A few months back I spent a couple of weeks watching far too much Fox News programming. By the end of that time I knew a couple of things: 1) I should probably buy gold and stick it under my mattress at home and 2) Dana Perino fucking hates working at Fox. Watching her on The Five or her random appearances on The O’Reilly Factor are like like watching a kid being forced to eat chicken liver with the promise of ice cream for dessert. Somewhere during that time the person sitting there has the distinct look on their face that says this isn’t worth it, is it?
This happened on The Five yesterday: Eric Boiling, probably best known for being as dumb as a brick tries to say that the polling around Trump and Hillary is wrong and that the size of the crowds are the way to go, Dana Perino’s brain explodes as she realizes that she is neck deep in a ship drowning in manure:
It is a real disservice to his supporters to lie to them that those polls don’t matter. You can not take 12,000 people at a rally that are your definite supporters they are going to show up for the campaign and then say the polls are wrong.
You can watch the interaction here.
x YouTube VideoThis didn’t sit well with Perino and later that night, Dana Perino pulled out the cork from the bottle of pent up anger and went in on Fox on Twitter.
xGetting a few things off of my chest cold: When it comes to political analysis, I make you a promise - I will never lie to you.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) August 18, 2016 xMany of you write, wanting me to tell you GOOD things about the gop chances this year. I wish I could do that. But I WILL NOT LIE TO YOU.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) August 18, 2016 xIn 2012, I fell for "the polls are wrong" mantra. I felt sick election night, realizing I'd been suckered into a fall sense of complacency.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) August 18, 2016 xRomney was not going to win in spite of the "rigged polls" - and I vowed that night that I would NEVER EVER fall for that again
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) August 18, 2016 xThe Dems start with 242 electoral college votes to win. They need 270. Even I can do that math - it isn't hard.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) August 18, 2016 xSure there are 11 weeks to go and a lot could change. I expect the polls to tighten a lot after Labor Day. But you can't win a general...
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) August 18, 2016 x...Election with the current state of campaign. Think of how fast 11 weeks goes. Nov 8th will be here before you can buy any Xmas presents.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) August 18, 2016Don’t worry, she’s still a Fox pundit and will humble brag.
xSome of you call me Debbie Downer, Negative Nancy, or even Pollyanna. I've been called a Pragmatic Snob (is there such a thing?)
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) August 18, 2016A Pragmatic Snob? No, there isn’t such a thing. But please go on about Fox.
xBut I will not lie to you about the state of this race. I won't do it. No amount of peer pressure digital or otherwise can move me.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) August 18, 2016 xSo I'm going to keep being a voice that says yes on the one hand but not the OTHER FREAKING HAND, the future of this party is at risk.
— Dana Perino (@DanaPerino) August 18, 2016 xMaybe you want the party to be at risk. maybe it SHOULD be at risk. But I won't be a party to delusion that crowds > established polls
