Occupy Democrats posted an article today by Colin Taylor detailing Bernie Sanders’ plans to hit the campaign trail after Labor Day on behalf of the Clinton campaign.
“I look forward to it. I feel very strongly that Donald Trump would be a disaster for the country. I want to do everything I can to see that Secretary Clinton wins.”
Sanders built a nationwide movement during his bid for the Democratic nomination. He enjoys a wide base of support from young people to working class voters. Sanders drew large crowds at his rallies and broke fundraising records, with the average individual donation being just around $27. Tapping into this base and enthusiasm would be the icing on the cake for the Clinton Campaign, not to mention the potential interest it can draw to down-ticket races.
He will also be campaigning for down-ticket Democrats in key Senate races, like Katie McGinty’s historic efforts to unseat Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, Ted Strickland’s efforts to knock out Sen. Rob Portman, and Governor Maggie Hassan’s quest to replace Sen. Kelly Ayotte in New Hampshire.
