He took the chance to adopt a senior dog, knowing that she would need more than a little care. It turns out, they have been the best thing to ever happen to each other!! She has gotten him out and about, and “introduced” him to many new folks in the neighbourhood.
DIXIE...the tiny dog with the HUGE heart….. Dixie in the park……..She has amused some of us (cough) with her love of investigating goose poop in the park! I shall not post the pic of her with her (now famous) ‘’goose poop nose’’ out of respect for a fellow Princess.
She has urged silky, one way and another, to get up in the morning….either by jingling her tags, or by sticking that cold, wet woozle nose where it does the most good!
that isn’t the fayce of morning evil, now is it??She also likes her naps...especially on her Woozle Pad, which was a gift to her from someone who loves and care for her hoomin, too.
What silky has not shared with many of us is how much of his limited funds he has spent on Dixie’s care. Like many of us, silky is on a fixed (read broken) income. In San Francisco. That means that what he pays for the basics and for services costs more than most of us pay because...San Francisco. And because she is a senior dog, Dixie has needed more trips to the vet, especially in 2015. The vet bills mounted, but silky was stoic, thinking he could handle them. And handle them, he did, even when it meant doing without, himself.
This year, 2016, Dixie did pretty well until recently, when she started needing more bloodwork, etc. The bills from last year haven’t been fully paid off, even though silky has been paying a huge chunk of his income every. single. month.
As it stand now, he needs about $5000.00 Yep. Five grand. That’s what he has spent out of his limited income for this dear, sweet dog who had a horrific start in life as a “breeder” for some puppy mill. She has been such a boon to him, and in return to the community we both share.
Let me be very clear about this. This diary was already half written in my head before silky finally admitted that he needed help. It is MY idea, much more than his. I’ll probably get an earful from him for saying so, but tough noogies, as we used to say.
